In this book the author has a conversation with one of his favorite poets, Edna St. Vincent Millay. The author often kids Millay, sometimes he chastises her, at other times he agrees with Millay, and often the author gives Millay advice. The author replies to many of Millay's poems, and does so with respect and admiration.

This is a collection of 60 sonnets (and a farewell poem) which each respond to a sonnet of Edna St. Vincent Millay. You will therefore probably want to refer to the Millay sonnets - there is a list of Morales' poem titles linked to the corresponding first line of Millay's poems in the back of this book. I tried that, but found I personally enjoyed just reading these sonnets for what they were - they may have started as "response" poems, but they took to having a life of their own. They are in a way a little more challenging that Millay's, with more mythologic references and big words. And it must be said that while Millay seems to have been somewhat of a sex addict, Morales appears to be at least quite the enthusiast! Interesting read.

Poems for Edna Heart to Heart with Ms Millay edition by Eddfie Morales Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

Eddie's drive for connectedness to his topic is dynamic. His belief in poetry as a tool for expression is inexhaustible. I am in awe of his energy to write and his endless knowledge of poet works.
Reading Eddie Morales sonnets about life and mostly love written in response to poems by Edna st. Vincent Millay, one half of a conversation about love and life is fascinating...you keep wondering as you read what she said that sparked his response. Yet even without her poems in hand this book is wonderful, each sonnet is fresh and full of fine images such as "Nature has contrived to boil our blood...we must comply, so not to nature foil" from Dear Jane, and from Columbina, "with ribbons tied to rainbows round her heart." I shall reread these sonnets often, remember new gems from each reading. If you have ever written a sonnet you will truly appreciate what an achievement this book truly is. ,

Lois Read, poet, author of 3 collections of poetry, "Once Upon a Time is Now," "Breathing Color," and "Walking Barefoot With the Muse."
author's love for and knowledge of Millay's work is outstanding. Once the KEY is revealed it becomes much more enjoyable.
This little gem is a labor of love. A conversation between two people from two different eras and of opposite genders is in itself a fascinating idea, and when it combines the artistry of two unique and talented poets, it is to be celebrated.
I've never been disappointed by any of Mr. Morales' works and this book is no exception! His unique ability to piece just the right words together to create not just a poem, but a story is truly sensational. If you haven't read this book yet, you really should.
I've never read ESVM, but now that I've read Poems for Edna I am going to make a point of doing so. L lover rhyming poetry and after thinking rhyme was dead, the author has rekindled my interest in this art form. These sonnets are superb. In the back of the book the author gives you a list of first lines of ESVM's poems so you can look them up in her books or on the internet. However these poems stand on their own. Still I want to read the poems that inspired these sonnets. Excellent work. Terry from Buffalo, N.Y.
